RIBBON LEVEL CLASSES:
We offer once a week classes, for 30-minutes, year-round at La Petite Baleen.
Once you have registered your child for his/her swim class, you will attend the
same class each week (Mondays from 10:00-10:30, for example). Students over the
age of 3 are in small group classes with a 4:1 student to teacher ratio. Student’s
ages 2 months to 36 months are accompanied by one adult and have a 6:1 student
to teacher ratio.
Classes are organized by both age and ability. Advancing levels of ability
are recognized through our Ribbon Levels. These are awarded upon the student's
successful mastery of the requisite skills. Please visit the Achievement
Awards page
to learn more about the different classes (Ribbon Levels) available.
SPECIALTY CLASSES:
- “Baby Splashers and Me ” is
a class designed for the youngest La Petite Baleen swimmers, ages
2 months to 18 months. Each baby is accompanied by one adult in the
water, with a student-teacher ratio of 6:1. The focus of this class
is to create a nurturing aquatic environment. Our highly trained
teachers will guide parents through a routine series of songs and
activities, ultimately teaching each parent how to successfully submerge
even the youngest swimmer.
- “Toddler Swimmers and Me ” class
is designed for the more active age group of 14 to 36 months. Each
toddler is accompanied by one adult in the water, with a student-teacher
ratio of 6:1. The focus of this class is to create am interactive
aquatic learning environment. Our highly trained teachers will emphasize
playfulness, as well as developing a healthy respect for the water.
Once a swimmer has turned 36 months, they will “graduate” to
a regular swim class without a parent/caretaker in the water (ratio
4:1).
***Please Note: All swimmers under the age of 3 are required to wear
a snug fitting non-disposable (reusable) swim diaper. Swim diapers
may be purchased at all LPB locations.
- Advanced Swim is a one hour-long
class offered to Gold Ribbon swimmers who are at least 7 years old.
The focus of this class is to build endurance, and learn pacing and
racing techniques in a non-competitive environment. Swimmers learn skills
such as flip-turns, medleys, relays and pre-swim team concepts.
- Special Needs classes are offered
at both locations. With a ratio of up to 6:1, a parent or caretaker
accompanies each swimmer in the water for this unique class.
NEW! EXCLUSIVE CLASSES:
- Private and Semi-Private classes
are now available at our flagship location in beautiful Half Moon Bay.
These classes are designed for those students who need a little extra
one-on-one attention. The achievement awards are rewarded just as they
are in our more popular small group lessons.
- Adult classes are also offered for
swimmers of all levels—from fearful non-swimmers, to those who
wish to learn the four competitive strokes. Our highly trained teachers
work closely with each student to reach their individual goals in a
warm, caring environment.
