    Achievement Awards

    Our classes are organized by both age and ability. Children may be up to only two years and/or one ribbon level difference. These achievement awards, or, Ribbon Levels, are as follows:

    RAINBOW
    For new students, or swimmers coming from "Toddler and Me" class. Following directions, safely waiting for their turn, making "Balloon Faces" and not crying.

    GREEN
    Swimming six feet in a horizontal body position, using paddling arms and proper breath control.

    BLUE
    Completing five "Up-Faces" in a horizontal swimming position, climbing out on the wall and sit-jumps. (Note: This Ribbon is earned without a nose plug)

    RED
    Five Up-Faces, back swims, rollovers, and back float in good horizontal position, Pencil Jump from the deck. (Note: This ribbon is earned without fins)

    WHITE
    Ability to swim without goggles, swim 16 feet underwater, tread water, get rings from the six-foot depth, swim 38 feet of Up-Faces, and dive from the deck.

    PURPLE
    Swimming excellent freestyle, backstroke, "Wiggle–Butts" and sculling on the back in horizontal position.

    ORANGE
    Swimming elementary backstroke, sidestroke, 76 feet of freestyle, 38 feet underwater and a racing dive to streamline glide.

    GOLD
    Swimmers earn a mini-ribbon for mastering each of the following strokes: (1) freestyle, using bi-lateral breathing, (2) backstroke with a racing start, (3) Breaststroke and (4) Butterfly. The actual "GOLD" ribbon is awarded when all four strokes are mastered as well as 38 feet of dolphin kicks in streamline position underwater and Racing Dive to Freestyle Swim.
